First: A brief history of the African Nations Cup

The idea of establishing an African Football Championship for men was born on June 8, 1956, after a meeting in the Avenida hotel in Portugal between the Egyptians Abdel Aziz Salem and Mohamed Latif and the Sudanese Abdel Halim Shaddad, Badawi Mohamed, and Abdel Halim Mohamed.

2- The start: for the African Nations Cup

Egypt is the country with the most achievement of the African Nations Cup for men's football. She got it 7 times in the years (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010). She retained the championship trophy after winning three consecutive titles.

In the years 2006, 2008, and 2020, and with this, Egypt will be the country that achieves the most championship, as it is the only country in the African continent to achieve the title three times in a row.

Cameroon won the championship five times in the years (1984. 19 .).
