The Russo-Ukrainian War: The stated goals and hidden facts
Russo-Ukrainian War: On February 24, 2022, on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine. But what are the declared goals of the Russian war on Ukraine?
What are the hidden facts of that unbridled war and Putinism's adventure?
Historically: If we go back to the era of the former Soviet Union. Ukraine was one of the countries affiliated with the Soviet Union and revolves in its orbit. To me, the dissolution of the former Soviet Union was agreed upon in 1991 by Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the former Soviet Union.
After the agreement with the West under the leadership of George Bush Sr., President of the United States of America. East Germany was withdrawn. And the independence of 15 countries from the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine.
Putin was one of the intelligence officers at the time, and he witnessed with his own eyes the hasty withdrawal from East Germany and with it the collapse of the former empire of the former Soviet Union, which had a great impact on Putin, the young officer at the time.
Russia and the legacy of the former Soviet Union
It obtained full nuclear power from the countries that became independent, including Ukraine, but it also inherited the economy battered by the arms race of the Cold War era.
Gorbachev, a hero to the West, a traitor to Russian nationalists
The West believes that, by dismantling the former Soviet Union, Gorbachev ended the Cold War era between the Eastern and Western blocs and expelled the specter of nuclear war.
However, the Russian nationalists see that this was high treason that led to the disintegration of their empire, which they were boasting about.
Putinism era in the history of Russia
Putin ruled Russia four terms from 2000 to 2004, then from 2004 to 2008, from 20012 to 20018, and from 2018 to now.
In fact, Putin has ruled Russia from 1999 until now and during that long period. Putin has brought back much of Lorca's military power to match the West and NATO.
The Russian intelligence officer did not forget that he was one of the officers of the former Soviet Empire.
And he is trying in various ways to turn back the clock to gain the power and influence of the former empire.
The Russo-Ukrainian War and the Declared Objectives:
Putin announced the goals of his war on Ukraine, the most important of which is
1- Protection of ethnic Russian civilians in eastern Ukraine from Ukrainian nationalists or neo-Nazis, as he put it.
2- Preventing Ukraine from joining NATO
But what are Putin's hidden goals?
1- The dream of the distant past, which is the annexation of Ukraine to the Russian Federation and the revival of the old empire, which collapsed before his eyes, and he is not satisfied with that.
2- Addressing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and expanding eastward to the borders of the Russian bear
3- Putin believes that the dignity of the Russians collapsed as a result of the collapse of the former Soviet Union and that he must restore the Russian Empire to its former glory.
He has to restore the strength and prestige of the Russian Empire to its previous era, albeit at the expense of Ukraine and the neighboring countries of Russia, which were affiliated with the former Soviet Union.
He also believes that the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to the east and its annexation of Russia's neighboring countries is a violation of the agreements made in 1991, according to which the former Soviet Union was dismantled.
Accordingly, he will not allow the forces and weapons of the Alliance to be placed on the Russian borders.
The western lure of the Russians to instill them in the Ukraine war
Whoever watches the Russian-Ukrainian war notices that the West initially had a fluid attitude when Putin mobilized his forces on the Ukrainian border, as if they did not care about this matter.
Until the Russian forces entered Ukraine, we found that the US-led Western position had become more ferocious, and packages of pre-prepared sanctions were imposed on the Russian economy.
Military equipment was sent from America, Canada, and Germany to Ukraine, which slowed the Russian advance into Ukraine and exposed it to great and unexpected resistance from the Ukrainian army.
This shows us that the West lured Putin's Russia into a trap to drain it economically after it saw that its military power was developing and growing again, which is what the West wanted after the world settled under the rule of the unipolar led by America.
Finally:
Can Putin achieve his goals in that war and escape this critical trap set by the Western countries?
This is what we will follow up in the coming days with the analysis of the results of that war Putin.
