* Firstly, What's the meaning of Cardiac :
. Cardiac means heart And cardiac means something related to the heart like a disease or a person with heart disease.
*Secondly, Our heart has so many functions such as :
- pumps blood all around the body all the time and it means circulation
- it maintains blood pressure very well
-it controls the speed of heart rate
*Thirdly, What's Cardiac enzymes analysis :
CK means creatine kinase, There are three isoenzymes that is related to muscles and the brain ( Ck-mb , ck-bb ,Ck-mm)
Ck is elevated in diseases related to muscles such as muscle dystrophy, viral myositis, and similar muscle diseases
In case of myocardial infarction ck and ck-mb start to rise within 3-8 hours, reach a peak in 10-24 hours and return to normal in 3-4 days.
Ck-mb is elevated in heart diseases such as myocardial infarction, cardiac trauma, and in Cardiac surgeries
-Causes of decreased ck levels :
- in pregnancy
- decreased muscle mass
- multiple organ failure
- intensive care patients or severe infections.
-Normal range in 37-degree temperature:
- in male : 38-174 U/L
- in female: 26-140 U/L
Note: normal ranges may be different because enzymes is affected by temperature.
*Fourthly, When you should do "Cardiac enzymes ":
You should do it When you want to do a checkup for your health or According to doctor's orders.
